May 15, 2026

Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, NH

One of the most unique aspects of North Conway is that you can enjoy a beautiful, scenic hike without having to drive several hours or walk several miles to see anything interesting. The serenity of a relaxing stroll combined with the breathtaking beauty of the White Mountains—here are 5 low-stress hikes that offer the most bang for every step.

Diana’s Baths

A gentle upward slope through a quiet forest rewards you with a sight that looks like it jumped straight out of a painting. Diana’s Baths is a must-see for tourists and locals alike, a perfect collage of cascading waterfalls that local Native American tribes referred to as “the home of the water fairies.” You’ll feel like you stepped into a children’s storybook!

Echo Lake State Park

An idyllic stroll around a beautiful lake with views of the stately Cathedral Ledge in the distance (a spot you’ll learn more about in a minute!), it’s a flat one-mile trail that is ideal for all ages and stages of hikers. This makes it a perfect fit for multi-generational families who want to soak up the sun and see the gorgeous wildflowers.

Cathedral Ledge

Considered to be one of the best viewing spots in all of North Conway, the journey to this bounty for the eyes can be as easy or challenging as you wish. Cathedral Ledge Road lets you drive directly to the most popular area, or you can take the slightly inclined Bryce Path that splits from the Echo Lake Trail. All the majesty of a mountain top without any of the climbing or snow!

Black Cap Trail

For those who love wide open spaces, Black Cap Trail gives you more in its 2.4-mile loop than almost any other hike in the area. Soak in the Mt. Washington Valley that lets you see the White Mountains, Moat Mountain Range, and Saco River valley in one glorious panoramic.

Moat Mountain Trail

This is a moderate challenge with more elevation and uneven terrain, but still accessible to the vast majority of hikers. A little effort rewards you with an incredible perspective of Echo Lake, letting you overlook the area and still have energy to go on one of the other hikes!

Your Home Base

While the hike itself is lovely, relaxing afterward with a beverage in hand is almost just as sweet. That’s exactly what you’ll find at Cranmore Mountain Lodge. Only 5-15 minutes away from every entry on this list, it’s the perfect place to recharge that lets you maximize your time in the area.

Award-winning accommodation, service, and food is the cherry on top after a day out on the trails (even one that wasn’t all that hard). You can book right now to take advantage of our Father’s Day Special that comes with a 10% discount and free flight of local craft beer for dad, and there are plenty of other packages to choose from.  With CML, we make vacation easy.
