July Adventures Begin Here: A Guide to Seek the Peak Weekend 2026

March 9, 2026

Mount Washington Observatory

Why run or jog for a great cause when you can hike instead?

Seek the Peak is the keystone fundraising event for the historic Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS), a lynchpin in the United States’s ability to study, understand, and predict weather patterns in the region and throughout the country.

On Saturday, July 18th, 2026, outdoor enthusiasts from all around will gather in the White Mountain region to support MWOBS, experience the world-class trails, and celebrate with the help of the area’s award-winning hospitality.

What is Seek the Peak?

Despite the MWOBS being the focus of Seek the Peak, it’s also a national celebration of all things hiking. Intrepid participants who visit the area are invited to trek to the peak of Mount Washington to visit the observatory itself (and get a free tour) at a place referred to as “Home of the World’s Worst Weather.” While here, they can also take part in the Après Hike Celebration, where local businesses and restaurants create a unique, festive atmosphere throughout the entire weekend.

BUT, if you can’t make it to New Hampshire, you can still be part of Seek the Peak! The motto for the event is, “Any trail, any peak—your challenge, your choice!” Whether you’re summiting Mount Washington or taking a relaxing walk on your local nature trail, you can register to help advance weather science while helping preserve a key piece of American history.

How to Register for Seek the Peak

Registering for Seek the Peak is easy: just click here.

Every Seek the Peak 2026 participant receives:

  • Official Seek the Peak 2026 T-shirt
  • Eligibility for prizes and raffle entries based on fundraising milestones
  • Co-branded Minus33/Seek the Peak merino socks
  • One (1) Ticket to the Après Hike Celebration

The Après Hike Celebration happens after the hike from 4:00-7:00 PM at Wildcat Mountain, letting participants refuel with the help of a BBQ feast and beer garden from North Conway’s own Tuckerman Brewing Company. There will also be live music, a rock-climbing wall (for those who still have energy left), as well as the EPIC GEAR raffle.

Business teams can sign up to compete for a private overnight educational trip to Mount Washington Observatory in addition to other exclusive perks.
